The top graph shows that determining where to pick up exploration property gradually changed from relying on the finds of prospectors to restricting exploration to brownfields; i.e., keeping close to where ore has already been found. The lower graph shows that determining where to start drilling gradually changed from largely relying on prospector’s visual findings to predominantly relying on non-visual geochemical analyses. As the other pages show, neither the modern brownfields focus or the conventional utilization of geochemistry has managed to compensate for the exploration and mining depletion of low-hanging fruit discovered by traditional grassroots methods. (“Peg the leases” is Australian for “stake the claims”.)
